In North America, it’s customary to tip 10%-20% in restaurants depending on the level of service you receive. Several years ago when I went to France I was shocked to learn that you don’t tip at restaurants. There is a 15% service charge that is included on your bill- it’s actually a mandatory law where they must charge the fee. If you really want to be generous you can give an extra euro or two. So what happened the first time around when I went to a restaurant you may ask- the server came after me and returned my tip!
