A social construct can basically be an idea or some sort of notion that appears to be natural and obvious to people who accept it but it may or may not exactly represent reality. Games are an example of socially constructed entities and often exist because of certain sets of conventional rules. These sets of social conventions and agreement to abide by them give games their meaning in any given social context. Gender, which represents ways of talking, describing, or perceiving men and women, is also a socially constructed entity.
