In order words, emotions can be innate but triggered by the environment and vice -versa.For example, fear is an innate emotion but triggered by enviromental factors. As a young child, I remember never ever been in a building higher than the first floor without having nausea or panic attacks. From a young age i've had fear of heights. It an innate emotion.
I also recall a situation where my brother was bitten by a snake, and I became fearful of snakes. Before this incident, the fear of snakes were pretty non-existence especially seen that its revered and worship in my traditional culture. Now the thought of snakes produce a feeling of nausea and mild attacks.
According to Damasio, this is associative learning; which is when emotions are linked with thoughts and vise-versa.

Be more concise and clear when you say that emotion is both innate and learned. Make a clear distinction by supporting point that Damasio provides. You can also incorporate your own life examples but its helpful if you could first summaries what the author believes, then incorporate your answer.
Thanks, Ali
