Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim
Damasio is highlighting that the actions a person takes can change the emotions of a person. For example, acting confident can reduce your fear. Damasio appears to be arguing both ways for this idea. Firstly he explains that when you act in a manner against your emotions, the person fools themselves it believing the choose narrative; thus this method of emotion control can be viable. Secondly, Damasio argues that sometimes a person is in a positive or negative mood and is unconscious of what is making them such; thus the mood is created unconsciously and not artificially by the person.
"Sometime's we come to realize the origin of those affective states, sometime's we do not." (Damasio pg 72)
Damasio highlights the study of Paul Ekman, Ekman asked his patients to perform a series of movements (Eg smile) and the patients begun to feel emotions which can be related to the physical movement. (eg He asked the patients to smile and they begun to feel happy, this occurred with no emotional stimulus, only the physical movements.)

Can you please expand on the significance of whistling a happy tune - what is the purpose of this analogy and what point is Damasio trying to get across to the reader
