Social construction played a major role in Moghaddam's discussion of stage models of development, conformity, and personality. Each chapter spoke to how socially constructed ideas influence the understanding and formations of the norms as it pertains to each phenomenon. Firstly in stages of development, it speaks to how schemas are created in children and how observation of those around them influence our own idea formation processes about the society within which we live. It speaks to the collaborative role of individuals in creating societal norms and also group norms. It also discusses how our social construct influences our behaviour and may affect our personality as well as one's self. The focus on the idea of social construction discussed in chapter 20 allowed greater clarity as to the normative nature of the ideals and how norm by extension influence other psychological concepts. It also showed that even when reference isn't made social construction over the years has changed and with it the manner in which individuals interpret elements has also changed. Our views of our self and the world around us are influenced and constructed and reconstructed constantly.
