12. I continually procrastinate onnreally important school assignments; I always delay until the very last minute.
How these approaches diff regarding what they should suggest for trying to understand the phenomenon
Psychoanalytic approach- Freud
- The Id operates on the pleasure principle demanding immediate gratification
- The ego operates on the reality principle, satisfying the IDs desire in ways that will realistically bring pleasure rather than point
- The superego represents internalized ideals and provides standards for judgment (the conscious) anD for future aspirations
- Weak superego then your id would take over which would make you procrastinate more
Psychoanalytic approaches- object relations theories
- Objects can have a negative aspect
o Ex: child and breast having a loving relationship
- The ego before but not from id
- The ego can always be satisfied so it will find its way to develop
How these approaches differ regarding what they should suggest for trying to change the phenomenon
- The way psychopathic approaches differ regarding what they should suggest for trying to change the phenomenon if there is a weak superego (provide standards for judgement) the id would take over (your desires) resulting in a delay of task
- If the student has a good interaction with the professor then they develop a good relationship and skills wanting to do the school assignment and striving for good reaction from the professor. But if they did not like the professor or the class they would procrastinate and leaving everything to the last minute or not even do the assignment.
