Joint action is defined as how the outcome of a social act cannot be traced back to the original intentions of an individual. This is significant because as humans we have evolved and gained the ability to read and anticipate each other by means of gestures and language. We cannot interpret where a social act will lead to because we act in the now, we constantly adjust and modify the way we think in a way that is being constructed by the other persons thought process. We constantly anticipate and are unaware of our anticipations and how it influences others. A time I engaged in joint action was when I went to a family reunion and saw my cousins that I haven't seen in years. We ended up becoming really close, and we never anticipated this outcome. I think joint action is a better way to describe my example because we never would have guessed how close we would become and we only relied on each other’s anticipation of each other (gestures and language).
