An example of zone of proximal development can be described as a parent teaching his child how to ride a bike. He might assist his child by putting training wheels on the bike and for extra support he puts his hand on the bike's chase. Once that's done he slowly removes the safety equipment and his hand and slowly the kid learns how to learn a bike. This act of help prevents the child from giving up and it is between hard and easy task. Once the child learns how to ride a bike without the aid of the assistance the training wheels and his dads hand, he is ready to ride the bike on his own.
