The double-blind procedure is when neither the patients nor the researchers are aware of which group is the experimental group( the group that receives the drug being tested) and which is the control group ( the group that receives the placebo ).
The double-blind procedure and the placebo effect are similar because in both experiments, the participants are divided into two groups and each are given a pill that is supposely a treatment. The participant recieving either the placebo pill or the actual drug tend to improve healthwise. This reduces the ability of bias or fixed result from the expiriment. The double-blind procedure also goes further in eliminating bias by making sure even the researches are clueless on which participants are the experimental or control group.
