I believe that this is a placebo effect because the child that did well during the second game had a positive outcome from his parents, which then made his attitude towards the game a lot more positive. Going into the game the child was more confident, positive and as a result to that he played a better game. However, the second child played poorly because the parents had a negative outcome towards washing of the socks or underwear. This made the child less confident, negative and as a result of this he played poorly. This shows the placebo effect because of the positive and negative psychological impacts through their parents and as well what they thought was their good luck in order to play well.
