Chomsky's view of language is that language is creative and limitless. We use words in ways we have never heard of them before to create new meaning. This is done in ways that could not be explained by the stimulus response. His view of language is consistent with a cognitive approach because his view suggests that aspects of cognitive behaviour are built in the brain and is reflected in language. He also suggests that language is structured and rule bound which behaviour is not.
