In-group cohesion Explain how displaced aggression might be used to foster in-group cohesion and describe an historical situation (other than those used in the text) or a personal situation that might provide an example of this phenomenon. Displaced aggression might be used to foster in-group cohesion through manipulation, done by the group leader. The group leader will manage the in-group disputes by making group members focus their aggression outwards (displaced aggression). In doing so, the group targets other outer-groups, through the manipulation and redirection of their group leader. A historical/personal situation that might provide an example of this phenomenon would be the shooting at Pulse Night club in Orlando Florida. This situation is being considered an act of terrorism, done by an individual whom is apart of an inter-group (a rightists of al-Qaida or Islamic State). This attack purposely targeted the LGBTQ community (newrepublic.com). The LGBTQ community at Pulse Nightclub where targeted through displaced aggression from an in-group cohesion. None of the victims knew the man committing the crime, the inter-group's target of displaced aggression was on an outer-group (the LGBTQ community), in which they do not show similar attractions, or share the same similar beliefs as the inter-group shares. newrepublic.com/article/134319/orlando-shooting-hate-crime-terrorist-act-answer-matters
