Moghaddam explains that individuals like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. (the minorities in this case) overcame the enormous obstacles confronting them by clinging to their own radical new norms, which eventually encompassed the majority to conform. They both did this through moral reasoning in the form of a conversion-compliance movement, changing people's mind through persuasive arguments and open dialogues, NOT in a brute force dogmatic manner. They both had firm, consistent positions, yet it was presented in a way that was not "shoved down your throat".
