Self perception theory of how a person know self is sometimes biased, even though we have the primary access to our selves.
Moghaddam points out 3 things that implies self as social construction.
One, how we see ourselves tend to base on how others see us, so called "looking-glass self'. Second, how we present ourselves depends on what we want out of the social contexts. Also, the motive of trying to portray the positive self in others' eyes is always there, which further proves the importance of social construction.
The unitary, continuity and positive self image are universal elements of self.
