Bismillah ir Rahman ir Rahim
Throughout the course we have analyzed and discussed many topics which can pose potential examples of a lack of political neutrality. Below I am going to address two examples,
a) Women: Only until recently, women have been given the opportunity to participate in psychological studies. This exclusion of women, and the absence of study into the psychology of women indicates a potential political bias against equality rights between genders.
b) Race: Historically, ethnic groups outside of Europeans and north Americans were not given opportunity to participate in western psychological schools. The schools were predominately white, thus the political orientation of the psychologists where more uniform. In traditional psychology, blacks and racial groups of the like were viewed as sub-human.
To conclude, there are numerous examples of political bias in psychological studies. This effects who can participate, what is studied and what are the implications/ interpreted results of the study.
