Sex is used to describe biological characteristics and gender is used to define how you identify "Gender Identities" are constructed by societal norms. We see gender roles normally surrounding a person's home life. We may see females be encouraged to work in the kitchen and a male being encouraged to work outside in the yard. These gender constructions can confine us in society especially as females as were are often seen as a "lesser gender" and "weaker than men". This can be seen in multiple areas of a person's life. From the beginning, girls are thought to like pink and boys blue. This shows how we often assign an arbitrary meaning to inanimate objects or things, from the time we are children.
