Gender refers to the cultural differences expected by society or culture of men and women, a person’s sex doesn’t change from birth but their gender can. Sex refers to biological differences between males and females. For example: chromosomes, reproductive organs such as ovaries and testicles and hormones. In my opinion ‘gender identities are constructed’ refers to the idea of the environment I surround myself in or the society being a huge influence on how I should dress, behave and think as a woman. The distinction to psychologists would allow psychologists to better understand gender being heavily influenced by cultural and societal factors.
