Cultural relativism and the Declaration of Human Rights can be at odds with one another. The Declaration of Human Rights contains mostly western ideals when it comes to freedom, equality, punishment, etc this conflicts with cultures which have different ideas on those types of things. Non-western people have been brought up in cultures where everybody is not equal, and it is right to kill those who have exhibited dishonour, among other things. These beliefs are fundamental to these people and it would be very hard to shift their fundamental beliefs to encompass a more western way of thinking. Cultural relativists believe that these people should be able to practice their cultural norms anywhere and get prosecuted by their own culture, this is in major conflict with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
