One example in which you have many, many degrees of freedom, but despite all the possibilities, you always act in more or less the same way whenever you are in the situation is behaving inappropriately in front of your parents/teachers. A person technically has the authority to act in such a way but it's the norm to respect and obey your parents/teachers. A person will have a comprehensive mental state to not perform inappropriately because they might get embarrassed or feel ashamed. It is the cause to why they do not act this way. Another example is not going to school. Students have the freedom in some cases to not go to school however it is the norm to go. The cause is not attending school and the effect is acquiring no knowledge. In addition people have decisional impulses to act in certain ways.
