Damasio's answer on emotions being innate was not simple. He makes his point about emitions being innate by giving the example of monkeys and snakes, and how monkeys are scared of snakes. He mentions that monkeys are all scared of snakes, however they need to be exposed to older monkeys reacting towards snakes at a younger age in order to activate that emotion of being scared of monkeys. he emphasizes that emotion of being afraid of snakes is within these monkeys how ever they need something to activate it and that is to look at how the older monkeys react towards snakes.
