-If a bathroom scale was reliable but not valid, it means that you will consistently see the same incorrect weight every time you stepped on the scale. -You could not have a scale that was valid but not reliable. This is because you cannot have a measure that is both accurate and inconsistent. -Good reliability and internal validity of a laboratory study suggests that the results of an experiment continue to yield accurate and reliable results in lab. Low external validity suggests that if this same experiment was conducted out of the lab, the results achieved may not be as accurate. -The same could not be said for a survey. This is because the conditions related to a partipant writing the survey will not differ (in lab vs out of lab), whereas the results of an experiment may be subject to the conditions in which the experiment is conducted. -however an interviewee may give different answers to the same questions depending the scenario and/or who is around at that time (lower external validity)
