Although psychology revolves around the biology of the human mind, it cannot be explained by that alone. Psychology studies the behaviour of humans, and that behaviour is not only explained by how the brain works, but is also affected by factors outside the body. For example, influence from peers, culture, and community, all play roles in the decisions people make and the way they respond to situations. Psychology cannot be reduced to biology because biology does not deal with any subjective experiences of thought or feeling. We can also refer back to the idea of “mind over matter”, and how beliefs make a difference in behaviour and emotion, which extends beyond everything that biology can cover.
Psychology studies the mind and links more to our well being and mental health, while biology refers more to our organs and how they should function in order for us to be physically healthy. The two subjects go hand in hand because they both help researchers understand humans, but one cannot be reduced to the other.
