"I don't trust men; they all say they'll be true, but they never are."
Social constructionist approaches: A social constructionist approach would be to look at the meaning systems this person has created in order to come up with this world view, and acknowledge the interactions this person may have had with others in order to create this believe. They would then work with the person to deconstruct this meaning system, to understand that it is a construct to begin with and then work interactively with the person to create a new meaning system that challenges this thinking.
Humanistic approaches – Rogers’ person-centred theory Unlike behaviourists, the humanistic approach assumes agency, that people make choices and have control over their choices. Rogers’ person-centred theory involves creating a theraputic relationship in which the person can begin removing “obstacles” that are blocking this person’s ability to experience and grow to their full potential. He believed that every person has the ability to self-actualize and that the therapist job is the help a person see the obstacles in order to remove them, and allow them the room to grow into the best version of themselves. In the case of this particular psychological phenomena, the therapist would work with the person to help them discover the obstacle, in this case, the person's mistrust of men, in order to begin removing it, to encourage growth.
