I continually procrastinate on really important school assignments; I always delay until the very last minute.
Psychoanalytic Approach: ID operates on instant gratification, the ego works on the reality principle however satisfying the ID, the superego works to represent internalized moral ideals. A weak Superego would make an individual procrastinate.
If the SuperEgo is weak the ID will take over and result in an ultimate delay in the task in this case the important school assignments. However, if the student is motivated or had a reward system or wants to benefit from positive feedback from the professor they will strive to complete the work however if they do not enjoy the course work or believe that they are not doing well they will be pushed to leave the course work assignments until the last minute.
