Working in vs. Working out

Working in refers to the fact that a researcher is sticking to empirical evidences and rely heavily to statistics than rather to think about the bigger picture. An example of working in is the Skinner box and how the the rat eats the food pellets every time.Working out on the other hand works differently and they stray away from empirical facts and instead look at the bigger picture. To have a better understanding Albert Einstein he theorised that the universe is expanding. That is an example of working out
