As the name suggest, the reductionist approach is taking something and reducing it to its simplest most form. This can be taking the idea of basic human needs and simplifying to the smallest possible organism such as neurotransmitter. The reason why biology itself is not sufficient enough to explain psychology is because psychology is driven external forces to a certain extent and biology is driven by external forces. For example a person is had an accident and has lost substantial amount of blood however the person who is injured refuses to get any blood transfusion due to religious beliefs. The biology aspect is that the person is in urgent need for blood however, there psychological thought process prevents them from accepting someone else’s blood. Thus, biology itself is not sufficient enough to explain psychology.
