The Dramaturgical model of the self

The term dramaturgy was adopted from the theater by psychologists. We are directors observing what goes on in the theater of everyday life and dramaturgical analysis is the study of social interactions in terms of theatrical performance. Damasio adapted Goffmans theory , he said all the wold is a stage and we are all actors in it, so one day we are the baby , the child , the student , the lover, the award winning artis t, the mother , father professional and in order to suced we must play each role well : our survival depends on it.
In this dramaturgical self we must be careful to manage well our expression and impression, our motives,front stage and back,our identity, accounts and justifications,self enhancement, self monitoring, self disclosure. All these will allow us to monitor and control what people knows about us , how we accept and reject what people think about us and what we know about ourselves and desire to achieve
