The zone of proximal development is essentially your field of potential. What Is beneath it are things your have already mastered, and the things above your ZPD are things you could never master, even if you had all the help in the world. For example, I woman who had both of her hands amputated will never be able to draw or write. This is above her ZPD because she does not have the physical ability to perform this task the way a person who doesn't have this affliction would be able to .
However, with training, a person with such as the woman in my example would be able to draw or write in unconventional ways (With mouth or feet). This presents a challenge to any person but with enough training and encouragment, a person with a disability would be able to to express themselves in this way.
