The act of "play" is very important to a child due to the fact that they develop essential skills/factors that in tern regard their individual growth intelligence and personality. They are able to fist see role models or others "play" (ie. their parents or society) that way they can recreate/mimic what is seen and what is viewed as normal or accepted to them. This process is referred to as "working above one's level" this means the ZPD is slowly being pushed further. When children engage in group play they teach each other, such games the most often come to mind are playing "house", "family" or "restaurant" through the help of the scaffolders which are the parents/peers/role models they are able to further expand their horizons. They develop and perfect skills they previously had not. Playing in groups gives them each other opportunity to support/learn tasks/ideas they otherwise wouldnt have.
