The attachment process between a care-giver and child change the way the child forms schemas about relationships. For example, if a child has an attachment with a care-giver that is characterized by distance or neglect, they may form a a schema for relationships that explains relationships between humans as things that make the child feel alone, or neglected. This could impact their ability to form healthy, non-isolating or painful relationships with others throughout their life.
