A. Self-reports may not be a reliable source for information on someones behavior because we don't always see ourselves the way we actually are. some people tend to describe themselves with their positive attributes and tend to hide the things they don't like about themselves. A good example of this is the self-perception theory, which also comes into play when assessing ourselves through observations.
B. If I had to give superiority to one of these methods I would give it to observations of the person being assessed by a trained observer. I think that reports from close friends and family could be biased as well, because some people put an act up in front of the people around them to act like someone they actually aren't, therefore skewing this methods validity. Another flaw with this method is that due to attachment and love, close friends and family could perhaps ignore the flaws. A trained observer or behaviorist understands personality well and could report based on expert opinion not biases with a third person point of view.
