Moghaddam defines the "good copy problem" as the idea that no matter how far assimilation policy is put into practice, there will always be an excuse or a basis according to which some groups will be excluded and made the target of prejudice and discrimination. Minority group members are encouraged and rewarded even to strive to join the majority group, but in many important ways they can only become “good copies” of the majority group. A good copy can never be as good as the real thing, and it can certainly never be better than the real thing which leads the minority group to feel frustrated and inferior.
Yes, this can happen even in a multicultural society. As we can look to the US and all that is happening right now with the unfair treatment of it's citizens, particularly the black and muslim people. They are all citizens in the same country, who celebrate similar holiday's and have similar aspirations, however, there seems to be a dominant majority group who continue to reject the minorities even if they become "good copies" of the majority.
